All Aboard for Hope a roaring success

Hope Horizons Cancer Wellness Centre has provided free allied health services to more than 500 cancer patients and their carers from Toowoomba and surrounds during its three years of operation. We were proud to support their recent Gatsby-themed event, All Aboard for Hope, to raise awareness and funds for this vital service.

Featuring a vintage train ride from Toowoomba railway station to a mystery destination for an evening of dinner and dancing, All Aboard for Hope raised an incredible $35,000 to help the Hope Horizons Cancer Wellness Centre continue to provide allied health services to cancer patients and their carers.

Hope Horizons Vice Chairperson, Jo Capp said the community’s support for All Aboard for Hope helped raise awareness of the charity which is working to build a lasting legacy for Toowoomba and the Darling Downs.

“It’s now very well documented that wellness planning is imperative to longevity when tackling a cancer diagnosis,” Mrs Capp explained.

“All Aboard for Hope provided a platform for us to work with a generous benefactor to develop a bigger space for our wellness centre near St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital which we’re anticipating will open mid-next year.

“We’ll be able to increase our service offering and minimise waiting times for cancer patients to access the allied health care they need, such as physiotherapy, counselling, oncology massage and occupational therapy, completely free of charge.

“We’re so very grateful to the long list of wonderful people and businesses, including Inland Rail, who sponsored, attended and donated funds towards All Aboard for Hope.

“We simply couldn’t have pulled off this amazing achievement without your support.”

The Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program offers funding between $1000 and $4000 for individuals and organisations in regional areas along the route that contribute to local and regional prosperity, wellbeing, and sustainability.
