Beaudesert State High School launches first STEM Mastery Program with help from Inland Rail
We’re excited to partner with Beaudesert State High School for the launch of the school’s first STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Mastery Program aimed at developing dynamic future leaders.

Beaudesert State High School’s 2022 Year Seven cohort are the first to experience the new program propelled by Science Head of Department, Mr Keith Tyrrell.
Mr Tyrell said the school’s STEM Mastery Program aligns with Education Queensland’s goal of fostering an environment which develops future problem-solvers who drive global economic productivity and prosperity.
“Our school strives to build lifelong learners who are connected to their community and well prepared for future decision-making,” Mr Tyrell said.
“To help create these leaders of the future, we’re running our first ever STEM program in Year Seven which will be a completely built-in strategic subject based on a new and future-focussed curriculum and problem-solving pathway.”
The Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program provided funds to purchase an interactive white board and 11 micro:bit robots which are central to the new STEM program.
“Our math and science curriculum will be completely paperless, with digital technology like the interactive whiteboard key to this,” Mr Tyrrell continued.
“The STEM Mastery Program group will also represent our school at extracurricular problem-solving challenges that focus on sustainability, robot building and programming, and associated engineering projects.
“We see Inland Rail as having values which relate to looking forward, adopting new technology and investing in sustainability; values which are very much aligned with our new STEM program,” he said.
“We’re thankful for the investment in our students and the future-thinkers of our community.”
The Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program offers funding between $1000 and $4000 for individuals and organisations along the Inland Rail route that contribute to local and regional prosperity, wellbeing, and sustainability.
