Billy cart derby brings childhood memories to life again

The smell of bacon and egg burgers, coffee, essential oils and soaps aren’t the only things that get our teams excited to be up with the birds on local market days. We enjoy catching up with our communities at these events.

The smell of bacon and egg burgers, coffee, essential oils and soaps aren’t the only things that get our teams excited to be up with the birds on local market days.

It’s the conversations with our stakeholders and community members who casually swing by our stand, inform themselves about the project and discuss community concerns.

And it isn’t always work and no play.

Our community engagement team likes to let their hair down every once in a while and attend exciting community events.

We recently sponsored the highly successful Colours of Lockyer Festival and the Lockyer Valley Billy Cart Derby.

We loved the local produce stalls, a youth street art competition, medieval parade, talent quest and live music by the Blue’s Brothers Tribute Band at the Colours of the Lockyer in March.

In May, the Lockyer Valley Billy Cart Derby brought our childhood memories to life again, seeing home-made billy carts of all shapes and designs racing against each other.

The day was full of good old fashioned fun and we know we’ll be back again next year to see the smiles on the competitors and spectators faces.
