Care Goondiwindi powers up with help from Inland Rail

We’re proud to support Care Goondiwindi in their mission to increase quality of life within the region. We recently caught up with their chief executive to hear how Inland Rail’s Community Sponsorships and Donations funding contributed to their new Care Community Space.

Care Goondiwindi Chief Executive Officer Tracy MacDonald said the organisation delivers a range of community services to meet the needs of and empower individuals and families in the region.

“Care Goondiwindi was founded as result of community demand and has grown to deliver a wide range of services including seniors support groups, family and youth services, free legal services and disability support,” Ms MacDonald said.

“Our vision is to be a dynamic resource that’s integral to the personal, social and economic life of Goondiwindi and surrounding communities.”

After securing funding to build a large, roofed deck adjoining their disability services shed and community centre, Care Goondiwindi approached Inland Rail for funding to install power points and fans in their new space.

Ms MacDonald said the Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations grant helped finish off the community space so it can be used as a safe and comfortable place for meetings and social gatherings.

“Our new Care Community Space can now be used as an outdoor meeting area for our seniors and disability clients, as well as youth and families, which has been helpful in increasing resilience in our community,” Ms MacDonald said.

“The funding from Inland Rail has helped us maximise usage of our new community space and made it comfortable for everyone.

“Our seniors and disability groups had no space of their own and now they’re able to meet for lunches, card days, host guest speakers and have social gatherings.”

We are proud to give back to our communities that are home to Inland Rail. The Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program offers funding between $1000 and $4000 for individuals and organisations in regional areas along the route that contribute to local and regional prosperity, wellbeing, and sustainability.
