Chief Executive Inland Rail – Retirement confirmation and acting arrangements

Having announced his retirement earlier this year, the CEO of Inland Rail, Richard Wankmuller will depart the role on 30 July.

Chairman of the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC), Warren Truss said after three years at the helm of the project Richard leaves Inland Rail in a strong position.

“Under Richard’s stewardship, the project has moved from early design through to construction, delivering significant local benefits in regional Australia at a time when we need it most,” Mr Truss said.

“ARTC is grateful Richard agreed to continue in his role while the project passed some crucial milestones this year and as an extensive search was underway for his replacement.

“The Board is in the final stages of the process to appoint the next Chief Executive, Inland Rail.

“In the interim, Rebecca Pickering will lead the Inland Rail team until the new CEO commences.

“Rebecca is a proven senior executive who is currently responsible for leading Inland Rail’s planning, communications and stakeholder relations and directing the projects planning, environmental, cultural heritage and social responsibility approvals,” Mr Truss said.
