Five community groups in the Gowrie to Kagaru project area recently received grants from the Inland Rail Sponsorships and Donations program.

The Murphys Creek Fire Brigade will use its grant to purchase thermal imaging equipment and incident command system kits. The thermal imaging will provide safety while searching for fire hotspots, while the incident command system kits are used to constantly monitor and ensure safety of volunteers when on a fire ground.

The Helidon RSL will purchase a new stove and food warmer for its kitchen. The new equipment will help staff prepare meals in a safer and more efficient environment.

The Gowrie State School P&C Association will install new window blinds for the new community hub.

The Spirit of the Valley Events also received grant support that will help the Colours of the Lockyer Arts and Culture Festival to go ahead.

The Withcott State School P&C Association will purchase iPads for students attending science and technology classes.

The next round of Inland Rail’s Community Sponsorships and Donations Program is now open until 30 April.
