EIS public exhibition continues

Last month, the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) released the North Star to NSW/Queensland Border project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for public exhibition and comment.

Your feedback will help DPE better understand the views of the community and inform their assessment of the project. You can make a submission to DPE between 26 August and 6 October 2020.

Where can I view the EIS?

You can view and make a submission to DPE on the North Star to NSW/Queensland Border project’s EIS by visiting planningportal.nsw.gov.au/major-projects/project/10221

How to make a submission online

To make a submission online, please follow the steps below:

1. View the EIS and other project documents at planningportal.nsw.gov.au/major-projects

2. Log in or create a user account

3. Find the project you want to have your say on and check the submission box

4. Before making your submission, please read DPE’s privacy statement. DPE will publish your submission on its website in accordance with the privacy statement

5. Your submission can either be typed or uploaded as a PDF and must include:

  • the application name and number
  • a statement on whether you support or object to the proposal
  • the reasons why you support or object to the proposal
  • a declaration of any reportable political donations made in the last two years.

6. Agree to the online statement and lodge your submission.

How to make a submission by post

You may also lodge your submission via post. Written submissions must include:

  • your name and address, at the top of the letter only
  • the name of the application and the application number
  • a statement on whether you support or object to the project
  • the reasons why you support or object to the project
  • a declaration of any reportable political donations made in the previous two years.

Your submission must reach DPE before the close of the exhibition period on 6 October 2020 and should be addressed to:

All submissions will be made public in line with DPE’s objective to promote an open and transparent planning system. If you do not want your name published, please state this clearly at the top of your submission.
