First aid boost for Boys to the Bush

A new defibrillator, thanks to an Inland Rail donation, will provide peace of mind for the Boys to the Bush when running their camps away from town.

Boys to the Bush is a charity committed to improving outcomes for disadvantaged and or disengaged male youth. It holds camps, as well as a variety of MENtoring programs led by local positive adult role models encouraging participants to achieve individual goals.

Mentor Warwick Edgerton said the defibrillator was a valuable addition to the first aid kit.

“Many of our programs are conducted on farms and if such an emergency does arise, we are able to provide the best possible treatment for participants, staff, or volunteers,” he said.

Mr Edgerton said he welcomed the ongoing opportunities Inland Rail would bring to the community, including jobs in the future.

“Small communities such as ours desperately need something like Inland Rail to give our youth the opportunity to stay in their community and not move away to seek employment,” he said.
