Gowrie to Kagaru update

We're only a month into 2022, but the Gowrie to Kagaru projects are already building momentum for a number of key deliverables this year.

Community members explore the Gowrie to Helidon project alignment during the project’s draft EIS information session at Murphys Creek in August 2021

We continue to work closely with the Coordinator-General and other Queensland Government agencies, to ensure the social, environmental, and economic impacts of the Gowrie to Helidon (G2H), Helidon to Calvert (H2C) and Calvert to Kagaru (C2K) projects are appropriately managed.

All three projects completed their draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) public notification periods in 2021.

We are working on our response to the Coordinator-General’s request for additional information for the C2K project.

The request for additional information is a part of the EIS approval process and takes account of the submissions received during the public notification period. Our response to this request will form part of a revised draft EIS.

The C2K revised draft EIS will go out to public consultation once updated, during which you will have the opportunity to review the amendments and have your say on the project.

To allow us time to complete the revised draft EIS and address additional information, we have received an 18-month extension from the Coordinator-General to 1 August 2023.

The Coordinator-General is currently evaluating the G2H and H2C projects’ draft EISs, along with the submissions and feedback from the public, community groups, businesses, and government agencies. We expect to receive a request for additional information for those two projects in much the same way as the request received for C2K.

We will keep you informed as and when we receive formal feedback as part of the coordinated projects process from the Coordinator-General on the G2H and H2C projects.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please email us on inlandrailqld@artc.com.au or call us on 1800 732 761.
