How we’re helping Bunya Park Scout Group ‘be prepared’ for all seasons

Come rail, hail or shine, the Bunya Park Scout Group of Toowoomba will be prepared for all seasons following the installation of new insulation in their hall thanks to a grant from Inland Rail’s Community Sponsorships and Donations program.

Bunya Park Scout Group is attended by around 60 young people who meet each week to participate in fun and challenging activities that help develop skills in leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and communication.

Group Leader, Alexander Brown said the Bunya Park Scout Group gives young people in Toowoomba and surrounds the opportunity to participate in, organise and lead adventurous activities with training held at their hall and outdoors.

“Our Scouts take part in a range of outdoor activities from ‘traditional Scouting skills’ such as camping and bushcraft, through to more extreme challenges such as abseiling, overnight hiking, canoeing and rock climbing,” Mr Brown said.

“Our hall is integral to our program, so we’ll be using Inland Rail’s grant to employ a local business to install insulation in the ceiling and under the floorboards to make the space warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

Scouting aims to help young people achieve their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their communities.

“Improving our facilities will benefit our Scout group and the wider community as we offer our hall as a cost-effective space for other local groups to meet,” Mr Brown said.

The Bunya Park Scout Group meets every Wednesday and Friday evening at their Scout hall on Geoffrey Street in Mount Lofty. Visit their Facebook page to find out more.
