Inland Rail Kagaru to Acacia Ridge and Bromelton Community Consultative Committee welcomes new members
The Inland Rail Community Consultative Committee (CCC) for the Kagaru to Acacia Ridge and Bromelton section of the project has welcomed several new members who will take up their roles for the first time at the 22 February meeting in Algester.
The new members have been selected from the local community following an open call for nominations, which were reviewed by an independent assessor.
ARTC’s Director of Planning, Communications and Stakeholder Relations Rebecca Pickering said all five Inland Rail Community Consultative Committees in Queensland were integral to the success of the program.
“It is vital to have input from both the general community as well as impacted residents in areas along the alignment so we can collaborate and address matters that are important to them,” Ms Pickering said.
“We welcome the new community representatives on the CCC and we thank the six new members for putting their hands up to become involved”, she said.
“We’re also very grateful to the former outgoing CCC members who have given up their time and made a valuable contribution during the last two years representing people from the area”, she said.
CCC Chair Gary Hardgrave said he was also pleased to welcome the six new members to the committee in addition to those remaining members.
“As the Chair of the CCC and a long-standing member of the local community, I’m pleased people from the area have taken the chance to become a part of the committee as it allows for local knowledge and input to inform the project’s approach to planning and design,” Mr Hardgrave said.
“The CCC includes residents and representatives from environmental conservation groups, community groups, chambers of commerce and property developers.
“Our committee acknowledges that while we can’t change the scope of the project, we’re keen to continue to work with ARTC to minimise impacts and maximise opportunities for the local area,” he said.
The next Kagaru to Acacia Ridge and Bromelton CCC meeting will be held on 22 February at Algester Sports Club, 41 Endiandra Street, Algester.
