Jindera Bush Fire Brigade receive training boost from Inland Rail
The Jindera Bush Fire Brigade has received a boost to training services thanks to funding from round 16 of the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program.

The Jindera brigade is one of 24 recipients who received funding in the latest round of the program, with the funds going towards the purchase of a new laptop, office equipment, and training aids.
The Jindera Bush Fire Brigade is part of the NSW Rural Fire Service and is made up of hard-working volunteers from southern New South Wales, serving the Greater Hume Shire local government area.
The brigade is the combat agency for bush, grass, structure fires and transport incidents in the region. It also coordinates bush fire prevention and contributes to the community through events such as the annual Santa run.
Graham Yensch, Jindera Bush Fire Brigade Captain, said:
‘The Jindera Bush Fire Brigade has been a fixture of the Greater Hume community since 1907 and is the community’s first defence against fire.
‘The brigade is a major player in working with other disaster mitigation groups and plays a major leadership role for other brigades within Greater Hume, and a support role for brigades outside our area.
‘We’d like to thank Inland Rail for their support of the brigade, the funds will be used to purchase a laptop and accessories to enable us to effectively deliver training in our brigades’ training room and on the move at smaller brigades as required’.
Stephen Jones, Inland Rail Director of Health, Safety and Environment, said:
‘We are proud to give back to the communities that are home to Inland Rail. The work these organisations do is instrumental to the wellbeing of regional communities.
‘I encourage other non-profit groups to lodge their applications for the next round of funding’.
The Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program offers funding between $1,000 – $4,000 for organisations in eligible regional areas. The funding supports organisations that contribute to local and regional prosperity, wellbeing, and sustainability.
The latest round of funding takes overall support for local communities and associations along the Inland Rail alignment to over $1 million since the program launched in 2019.
Applications for the next round of funding close on 30 April 2023.
