About Us
The Inland Rail Program is a 1700km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of; viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges. More information relating to the project can be found here: http://inlandrail.artc.com.au.

The ARTC Inland Rail Project is currently seeking an experienced GIS Analyst to drive and support the GIS function within the Inland Rail program.

About the Position
The GIS Analyst will contribute to the provision of high-quality GIS services for the ARTC Inland Rail program utilising technical knowledge to analyse, run processes and produce high quality visualisation. You will Provide GIS services as required to add value and support multiple business functions and projects involved in the delivery of the Inland Rail program. Accountabilities include;
  • Ensure compliance with ARTC’s Safety Management System (SMS), Environmental Management System (EMS) and ARTC’s GIS requirements, responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities.
  • Proficiently operate ESRI GIS software in the desktop environment to effectively analyse, run processes and produce high quality visualisation of the results.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of standards and procedures in alignment with Inland Rail GIS strategy for enhanced quality assurance, data interoperability and governance.
  • Web app configuration and publishing.
  • Liaise with internal clients to scope work.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing data, data validation and quality.
  • Design, develop and run models to improve processes.
  • Produce high quality and high-volume cartographic products.
  • Process documenting, development of user guides, end user training and support.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of GIS analytics, geoprocessing, data management and web solutions.
About You
The successful applicant will be tertiary qualified in GIS or of similar discipline and be able to provide 5+ years of experience in GIS analytics. You will also be able to demonstrate;
  • A proven track record of resolving problems to improve overall performance.
  • Technical skills in GIS analytics, geoprocessing, data management and web GIS.
  • Demonstrated skills in high quality data visualisation and designing the look and feel of cartographic products.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with a diverse range of people working in multi-faceted functions leading to successful outcomes.
  • Experience in developing and implementing standards and procedures for geospatial systems
  • Data validation and quality control, including experience in transport infrastructure industry is highly advantageous.
