Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) plays a critical role in the transport supply chain and in the overall economic development of Australia.  We manage and operate over 8500 kms of track in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland, making us one of Australia's largest rail network owners.

The Inland Rail Program is a 1715km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of: viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges.  More information relating to the project can be found here:
About the Position
Inland Rail are currently seeking a Safeworking Coordinator to  provide supervision, subject matter expertise and assurance enabling the successful delivery of the N2NS project based in Moree.  The position will be offered either on a 10/4 roster or residential status for suitably experienced candidates.  Responsibilities include but will not be limited to:-

  • Support IR WHS and Contractor Delivery Teams to ensure compliance with the relevant Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Legislation as well as the enterprise's Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Standards, Policies and Procedures
  • Support WHS Team in the completion of Site Safety Audits and Development of Required Safety Documentation to support Project Delivery
  • Assist the IR Project Management Team in the review, acceptance and implementation of all Workplace Health and Safety Documentation for the project relevant to Rail Safety and Safeworking
  • Provide Safeworking expertise to assist the Construction Manager and discipline leads to complete Activity Planning and Sequencing with nominated contractor
  • Provide technical advice about Safeworking during constructability reviews with engineering and contractors (safety in design, temporary work requirements)
  • Development of Documentation including Possession Management Plans, Worksite Protection Plans, Safe Notices and Infrastructure Booking Advices
About You
To ensure your success in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:-  
  • Safeworking experience in a railway operating environment
  • Operational project planning / logistical experience
  • Highly developed problem resolution and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently with competing agendas
  • Qualified up to Protection Officer Level 2 with ability to qualify to Protection Officer Level 4
  • Sound knowledge of:
  1. Australian standards for track infrastructure including the railway National Code of Practice
  2. Railway safe working systems, principles and audit requirements
  3. ARTC Network Rules and Procedures
