Major construction starts on Narrabri to North Star – Phase 1

It's full steam ahead for construction of Inland Rail between Narrabri and North Star in NSW, with major construction works on Narrabri to North Star - Phase 1 kicking off in mid-April in Gurley and surrounding areas.

Minister Coulton addressing local media in Moree to mark the start of major construction

Local member for Parkes and Minister for Regional Health, Regional Communications, and Local Government Mark Coulton attended a launch event on 19 April in Gurley to congratulate ARTC, Inland Rail and our contractor Trans4m Rail for reaching this major milestone despite recent wet weather delays.

Trans4m have already hit the ground running, removing nearly 10,000 sleepers and 11 kilometres of old rail, while more than 100 are people (of which 15% are local Indigenous people) already working on the project. As of mid-April, more than 60 tenders are currently being advertised for the project through Trans4m.

As Trans4m Rail ramps up its construction activity in the coming months, local suppliers and individuals are encouraged to act now and get ‘Inland Rail ready’.
