BHQ Joint Venture (BHQJV)

Comprising three Queensland-owned and operated businesses – Bielby Holdings, JF Hull Holdings and QH&M Birt – BHQJV have a 40-year history of working together to deliver infrastructure projects throughout Australia.

Specialising in infrastructure design, construction, bridges and earthmoving, the joint venture partners bring a wealth of experience to our civil works program which includes more than:

  • 30 bridges spanning more than 11km
  • 900 culverts
  • 200 pieces of machinery.

The works program will also need a large local workforce to support project delivery with an estimated 950 workers needed at the peak of construction.
We caught up with the BHQJV executive team to find out what being part of delivering Australia’s largest rail freight infrastructure project means to them and what local communities along the alignment can expect in the coming months.

Adam and Terry – Bielby Holdings

Bielby Holdings is a civil engineering company that specialises in engineering solutions for road, rail, ports and marine, aviation, resources, and renewable energy.

“Inland Rail will be our largest rail project to date and will underpin continued growth in the business for years to come. We’re looking forward to collaborating with the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) and stakeholders to deliver an important piece of infrastructure and a social legacy spanning regional employment, business, and upskilling opportunities.

In the coming months we’ll be working with our joint venture partners, ARTC and our designers to further refine the project’s design. We look forward to meeting people from the local communities at future ‘meet the contractor’ events.”

John – JF Hull Holdings

JF Hull is a civil engineering company that specialises in concrete construction. The business has delivered challenging infrastructure projects, providing expertise in bridge works, roadworks, drainage, and structural steelwork.

“We’re excited by solving technical and logistical challenges particularly in relation to the design and construction of concrete and steel structures. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to work collaboratively with ARTC, its designers, key suppliers and subcontractors.”

Quentin – QH&M Birt

QH&M Birt, better known as QBirt, deliver large scale bulk earthworks projects, particularly in challenging and remote environments.

“We see Inland Rail as an opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities on a high-profile nation-building project. We’re excited about participating in a collaborative delivery model, challenging industry norms and delivering positive outcomes for all stakeholders.”
