Meet Eleanor Falkiner and Amanda Dunn

As the Stockinbingal to Parkes project moves into the project assessment phase, the stakeholder engagement team will be a critical link for the community to be kept informed of what is happening along the alignment and how they can start to get Inland Rail ready for the construction phase. Meet our stakeholder engagement team of Eleanor Falkiner and Amanda Dunn.

Eleanor, tell us a bit about your professional background.

I grew up on a farm in central west NSW and went on to do a double degree in international relations and communications. My aim has always been to combine my love of regional and rural Australia with the skills and knowledge I gained from my degree. In the last 10 years I’ve worked for major agribusinesses and local and state government. I also own and operate a farming business with my husband in Canowindra.

Why did you decide to join Inland Rail?

I had just finished work on a major State Significant Infrastructure project in NSW and was looking for the next big project to join and Inland Rail was right on my doorstep. I love the scale of the project and working towards the ultimate goal to bring economic opportunity and benefit to regional Australia.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of working on this project?

Working with great people and meeting interesting people locally, all with a story to tell and all passionate about where they live and the future of their communities.

What can the community expect to see in coming months?

Design progressing and our project heading into the procurement phase, which means boots on the ground in the not too distant future.

What do you like doing in your time off?

Checking the sheep and Lucerne on our farm and gardening.

Amanda, tell us a bit about your professional background.

I have been a member of the stakeholder engagement team for Inland Rail for more than a year working on the now completed Parkes to Narromine project, and more recently the Narromine to Narrabri project. These two projects have exposed me to the planning and construction phases of this program of work.

Why did you decide to join Inland Rail?

I wanted to be part of a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a national infrastructure project, especially as it is going through my hometown of Forbes.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of working on this project?

Working with a great team and meeting our stakeholders.

What can the community expect to see in coming months?

A lot more of the stakeholder engagement team at drop-in sessions in Forbes and surrounding communities as we progress various stages of the project.

What do you like doing in your time off?

Finding new camping spots, painting and travelling.
