Mille Road, Bellata Level Crossing upgrade

Between June to October 2022, our contractor Trans4m Rail will continue major level crossing and drainage upgrade works on Millie Road, Bellata.

Snapshot

Date

June 2022 - October 2022

Working hours

7am to 6pm, seven days a week

Location

Millie Road level crossing 549

Town
  • Bellata
Local Government Area
  • Narrabri Shire

Work being done

Works will include installing new drainage structures, pavement and upgrades to level crossing 549.

To facilitate the works, a temporary road has been constructed to divert traffic around the existing level crossing. The temporary gravel access road will accommodate road trains.

To allow for drainage works on both sides of Millie Road, a traffic lane switch will occur midway throughout the works to provide a safe work zone during construction.

What is a traffic switch?

Diverting traffic onto a different section of road is referred to as a traffic switch. Switching traffic helps us minimise congestion caused by construction works.

Motorists are urged to follow changing traffic conditions on site, including speed zone reductions and directional signage.

What can I expect

  • Trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the construction site
  • Construction machinery and equipment operating on site adjacent to live traffic
  • Delivery of materials and equipment
  • Some of these works will be noisy and mitigation measures will be in place
  • Some minor traffic delays are expected during work hours.

Machinery used

  • Trucks,
  • cranes,
  • graders,
  • excavators,
  • loaders,
  • rollers and
  • water/vacuum excavation trucks

will be used within the construction impact zone.

How we’re managing impacts

  • Traffic control will be in place, where required
  • Water carts will be on site to wet down areas to assist in managing dust.
