Narrabri to North Star construction update

This month, we progressed final track preparations between Penney’s Road, Bellata and Tapscott Road, South Moree and moved a step closer to ‘live’ operations. More than 3km of new track is now laid and more than 3,600 sleepers between Waterloo Road level crossing and South Kanimbla level crossing are installed.

Two rail workers measuring out materials for concrete sleepers as part of the Inland Rail alignment

Rolling stock machinery like flash butt welders, ballast trains and tamping machines will continue operating in this area during October to ensure this new track section is operational for the start of harvest.

To keep the community safe, we are implementing additional safety precautions at all level crossings, including Kanimbla Road and Gurley Creek Road.

Changed traffic conditions are in place, so please drive carefully and obey all traffic management directions and signage
