Narrabri to North Star Phase 2 – EIS to be exhibited in late 2021

We are in the final stages of preparing the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Narrabri to North Star Phase 2.  The EIS is expected to be on public display later this year and the local community will be invited to attend drop-in sessions to speak with our team about project impacts and proposed mitigations.

Moree train station

Phase 2 forms part of the Narrabri to North Star project and is a smaller section from Moree to Camurra. This section has its unique complexities as it exists between the Mehi and Gwydir Rivers and is an area mainly consisting of farming and smaller rural lifestyle blocks.

Works on Phase 2 includes upgrading 11.8km of track crossing the Mehi–Gwydir floodplain and building 1.7km of new track at Camurra, north of Moree.

A key focus of the development of the EIS has been examining the project’s anticipated hydrology impact. To address local community concerns about the proposed alignment’s capacity to handle rising flood waters, our latest designs feature approximately 1,100 large culverts to direct water flows and mitigate impacts on the affected areas.
