The car club was one of 24 recipients who received funding in the latest round of the program, with the funds going towards putting on the annual event at the Narromine Golf Club, including promotion materials, safety measures, and special guests.

The Narromine Car Club’s annual show is a much-loved community event, showcasing classic cars, a raffle for fuel vouchers, jumping castle, market stalls, and the Black Dog Motorcycle Ride.

Trophies were awarded on the day for various categories including Best Restored, Best Tractor, Best Paint Job, and the overall Grand Champion.

Peter Cale, Treasurer of the Narromine Car Club, said:

‘We’d like to thank ARTC Inland Rail for their support of the Narromine Car Club and the car show for 2023. With their assistance, we were able to put on a fantastic event for our community, with the proceeds going towards local charities.

‘The Narromine Car Club is made up of a group of car enthusiasts, we don’t care if you drive a Ford, Holden, Chevrolet or Valiant, come along and enjoy spending time with others with a passion for nice cars. Members enjoy club drives about once a month and go to Car Shows in the local area’.

Stephen Jones, Inland Rail Director of Health, Safety and Environment, said:

‘We are proud to give back to the regions that are home to Inland Rail. The work these organisations do is instrumental to the wellbeing of local communities.

‘I encourage other non-profit groups to lodge their applications for the next round of funding’.

The Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program offers funding between $1,000 – $4,000 for organisations in eligible regional areas. The funding supports organisations that contribute to local and regional prosperity, wellbeing, and sustainability.

The latest round of funding takes overall support for local communities and associations along the Inland Rail alignment to nearly $1.1 million since the program launched in 2019.

Applications for the next round of funding close on 30 April 2023.
