No. 94: Level crossing upgrades and temporary closures – Tinks Lane, Tomingley

Snapshot

Date

March 2024

Local Government Area

We opened Tinks Lane, Tomingley, to allow road users to continue to use the road while we installed rail. Rail has been installed and we need to temporarily close Tinks Lane again to complete the road works.

Tinks Lane, between Peak Hill Railway Road and Tomingley-Narromine Road, will be temporarily closed from Monday 27 April 2020 until mid-June 2020.

Road detour will be via Peak Hill Railway Road, Wyanga Road and the Newell Highway.

Tinks Lane will re-open as soon as the road works are completed.

Location of works

Tinks Lane, Tomingley

What we’re doing

  • Installing drainage and culverts
  • Building road formations and new plate over rail
  • Constructing level crossing (concrete treatment)
  • Installing new gravel (ballast) and tamping (adjusting) rail into place
  • Installing permanent signage and fencing
  • Laying new rail and sleepers
  • Welding rail into place

What to expect

  • Traffic management with detour signage will be in place to assist those impacted by the road closure.
  • During the work there will be heavy vehicles travelling to and from the work sites.

Once rail has been installed in each section, the rail will be ‘live’ and construction trains will be intermittently passing across the level crossing. For your continued safety, please ensure you obey all signage at level crossings.
