North Star to NSW/Queensland Border project update January 2021
This will be a big year on the North Star to NSW/Queensland Border project as we continue work on our response to submissions report for the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) and prepare for detailed design and construction later this year.

The North Star to NSW/Queensland Border project is in the ‘response to submissions’ phase of the Environmental Impact Statement process. We expect to provide a final submissions report to DPE for assessment early this year.
Upcoming consultation
Local communities and landowners have been contributing to our understanding of this section of Inland Rail since early 2016. Since the proposed alignment was endorsed, we have been meeting with local communities, landowners and stakeholders to discuss next steps.
As we progress to the detailed design phase, we will be in touch with directly affected landowners to further explore hydrology aspects of the project. This will be in consultation with DPE.
