North Star to Border project update December 2022

What’s happening in the field?
Laing O’Rourke Queensland (LORQ), our preferred civil works contractor for the North Star to QLD/ NSW Border project has been busy in the field over the last month completing an alignment survey.
In mid-November, we joined them in a cultural appreciation walk of the alignment. Over three days, team members from across the organisation, including utilities, cultural heritage, geotechnical and ecology participated in a site familiarisation to assist in planning for upcoming investigations and studies.
Some investigations, including land surveys and ground water surveys commenced in early December and preparations are underway for geotechnical investigations to commence in early 2023.
EIS status
The North Star to NSW/Queensland Border section remains in the approvals stage as we continue to work with the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) on the conditions of approval.
