Narrabri to North Star Phase 2 project builds momentum

The Phase 2 section of the Narrabri to North Star project includes upgrading 13km of track from Alice Street, Moree across the Mehi-Gwydir floodplain to the eastern side of the Moree Gun Club. It also includes 1.6km of new track at Camurra, north of Moree.

The project’s Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is being finalised and is expected to go on public exhibition in 2022. During this period, the community will be invited to have their say on the project, which will help the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment better understand the views of the community and inform their assessment of the project. Subject to approvals, we expect Phase 2 construction to commence in 2023.

Working hours during construction

We have recently sought feedback from the Moree community through community feedback surveys and phone calls on our proposal for a seven-day work week when Phase 2 construction starts.

We have conducted three rounds of consultation with the community, including a round that focussed on construction noise in late 2020, and this feedback has informed our planning.

If you have any views or comments on the proposed seven-day working hours, please email our Phase 2 Stakeholder Engagement Lead, Isabella Hall on ihall@artc.com.au or call 1800 732 761.
