NSW/Queensland Border project update March 2022

What’s happening in the field?

We’re undertaking additional ground and surface water surveys during March and April. Surveys will be on public land, in road reserves and in the rail corridor. Investigations on private property will be arranged with individual landowners.

Out and about

Earlier this month, we attended a meeting hosted by the Murray-Darling Downs Basin Authority which visits Basin communities to listen and learn from local people.
Chaired by Air Chief Marshal Sir Angus Houston AK, AFC (Retired), the meeting was a great opportunity to speak with the Goondiwindi Regional Innovation Network, the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, Commonwealth Environmental Water Office about how Inland Rail is progressing and our floodplain modelling.

What’s coming up?

We’re looking forward to seeing lots of you face-to-face at the 2022 Goondiwindi Show late next month. Look out for the Inland Rail marquee and be sure to say hello to our friendly team.

EIS status

The North Star to NSW/Queensland Border project remains in the approvals stage as we continue to work with the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) on our conditions of approval.

We expect the Minister for Planning to make a decision about the project in the coming months.
