Parkes to Narromine construction notifications

Construction notifications about work currently under way on the Inland Rail Parkes to Narromine project are listed below.

Construction notifications for work completed before January 2020 can be found in our archive.

Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project connecting regional Australia to domestic and international markets. Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has engaged INLink (a joint venture between BMD Constructions and Fulton Hogan) to upgrade and build the first section of the Inland Rail, from Parkes to Narromine.

As part of the work, we are upgrading level crossings between Parkes and Narromine. While we do this, we need to temporarily close public roads to lay the new rail.

What to expect

During the work there will be heavy vehicles travelling to and from the work sites. Traffic-management will be in place, with detour signage to assist those impacted by road closures.

Community safety

All work areas will be protected or fenced for public safety. Our sites will be clearly signed to identify work zones, and the community will be notified as needed. Once rail has been installed in each section, the rail will be live and construction trains will be passing across the level crossing. For your safety, always stop at level crossings.

Work hours

Our standard working hours until mid-2020 are:

  • 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday
  • 8am to 1pm Saturday.

If we need to work outside these hours, we’ll notify impacted residents in advance.

Thanks for your understanding. You can call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1800 732 761.
