The 1st Kooringal Scout Group’s hall will soon be hosting year-round activities thanks to a new air conditioning system made possible by Inland Rail’s Community Sponsorships and Donations program.

The small community group has 10 leaders and more than 75 youth members aged from six to 18 years old.

Paul Aplin, Trainee Leader (Group) for Scouts NSW, said usual fundraising provides basic equipment for the program, so the Inland Rail grant provided a much-needed boost to the hall.

“Particularly with younger members, the lack of proper heating has meant some nights have been changed or called off, and likewise with the February heat,” Mr Aplin said. “This grant will allow everyone involved to endure the cold of winter and the heat of summer.”

Mr Aplin said the arrival of Inland Rail will have some environmental benefits too and is looking forward to the reduction in heavy vehicles travelling through the area.
