Staying Covid safe during construction
Inland Rail construction is continuing along the Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 (N2NS) section of the alignment with special measures in place to protect workers and the local community from Covid-19.
July 30, 2021
We are committed to the safe delivery of Inland Rail during this unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic, and we want to give the community confidence we are on track to re-open the track on 31 October.
This means taking extra precautions and implementing additional preventatives measures to ensure the safety of our team and the Moree and Narrabri communities.
We have limited non-essential travel by staff, but those who do fly or drive in for work are required to adhere to a range of safety measures, including taking a Covid test on arrival for their shift and regular tests every seven days or more frequently in accordance with applicable Health Department guidelines.
Workers who return to hot spots must stay in those areas until restrictions are lifted, meaning those workers who are not in NSW-Government identified hot spots are eligible to travel for work.
Of those workers who do travel, they must wear and use PPE, including masks and hand sanitiser, while also checking in via QR codes while at work and when out in the community.
We have reduced the size of groups working together and rearranged our facilities to maintain social distancing requirements.
Where possible, our workers are encouraged to limit movement in the community and maintain good health practices when they are out and about. Should requirements change or increase, our team will strictly abide by all health orders.
All Australians rely on the freight network to deliver essential supplies such as food, medicine, medical equipment, which are critical now more than ever.
We are working hard to ensure we balance the challenge of ensuring the delivery of the Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 project alongside our obligations to meet and respond to the current public health challenge.
