Thanks for saying hello at the Seymour Expo!

Our ARTC Victoria Projects team was out in force across the three days of the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo from 16-18 April. We spoke with hundreds of people who stopped by our stall to ask questions, provide feedback, and pick up some information, along with a few freebies.

Stakeholder Engagement Lead David Donelly found the expo a positive way to continue interacting with the community in Mitchell Shire and beyond.

“I have worked at the expo the last few years and the main thing I noticed was that the Inland Rail project and ARTC are far more recognisable among communities now,” David said.

“Most people who visited our stall knew who we were and had specific questions, which is a positive.

“The timing worked well too, given locals had recently received their Planning Scheme Amendment letter for the Inland Rail Tottenham to Albury project, so we could address their questions about it.

“Landowners with powerlines on their properties also dropped by to ask about upcoming utility relocation works, while a number of council representatives shared their views on Inland Rail.

“This year, we were right next door to Rail Projects Victoria, which was great because we could refer people to either organisation, depending on the community member’s question.”

From 375 conversations across the three days, we covered a range of topics including:

  • the benefits of transporting more goods on rail to reduce projected truck numbers
  • plans for the Euroa Station precinct, including the two options we’re considering (new bridge or heavy vehicle underpass)
  • plans for the Benalla Station precinct, including the two options we’re considering (bridge replacement, or new platform and track realignment)
  • status of the North East Rail Line Upgrade, completion of major works with some project signalling works continuing throughout the remainder of 2021 before community members can expect Velocity trains.
  • updates on specific sites including Euroa, Benalla, Broadford, Wangaratta and Wandong to provide the latest information and project timeframes.

Thank you to everyone who was able to stop by to say hello and share your thoughts with us. We hope to see you again next year!

We also encourage you to continue chatting with us in person at one of our seven pop-up locations, via email victoriaprojects@artc.com.au, phone 1800 732 761 or visit the project page for more information.
