Upcoming works notification

Our teams will be out in the field to undertake geotechnical investigations to inform the project's reference design phase.

ARTC drilling site on a property owned by Teen Challenge, near Toowomba. Drill hole number is 320-01-BH2101

These investigations will provide information and data on soil and rock types in and around the proposed Inland Rail alignment. Investigations will occur on public land, private property, road reserves and the Queensland Rail corridor.

Investigations on private property will be arranged on a voluntary basis with individual landowners. All investigations are weather permitting.

Surveying ground conditions from the air

We will be using a light aircraft equipped with aerial laser measurement technology to capture ground surface survey data along the alignment from North Star (NSW) to Acacia Ridge and Bromelton (QLD).

You may notice a twin-engine light commercial aircraft flying parallel to the proposed rail route. Some survey personnel will carry out ground validation checks from the roadway. This work will be carried out by ARTC and our contractor.

What to expect during investigation works

  • white wooden pegs used to mark out investigation sites
  • vehicle and machinery movements, including truck mounted drilling rigs and excavators with support vehicles
  • equipment left at investigation sites overnight
  • consultants completing ‘walkovers’ on private and
  • public land
  • light aircraft flying at +600m above the ground, sometimes making multiple fly-overs.

We recognise that these investigation activities may cause noise and dust impacts for some landowners and we will make every effort to minimise these impacts.

Investigations will be undertaken between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, weather permitting.
