Voluntary PSA exhibition period closed – thank you for your participation

Our voluntary Planning Scheme Amendment public exhibition period for the Inland Rail Tottenham to Albury project (19 April to 17 May 2021) has closed and we thank locals across North-East Victorian communities for their submissions and interest.

Wangaratta pop-up community session

As part of our ongoing consultation process, we ran a series of information sessions in early May 2021 to explain the Planning Scheme Amendment (PSA) process.

We also extended opening hours at several regular pop-up locations and visited new locations to ensure the community had every opportunity to have their say.

During the exhibition, we sent more than 7,000 letters to residents, landowners, and businesses within project corridor and welcomed feedback from the wider community via an online survey promoted across newspapers and social media.

We received more than 200 submissions and have been responding to questions where required. All submissions, and our responses, will be included in our PSA application to the Minister for Planning, who will determine the outcome in the coming months.

Environment Manager Marisa Feher welcomed the chance to meet with a range of local people in Euroa, Wangaratta, Broadford, Wandong, Glenrowan and Benalla.

“It was great to hear a wide range of feedback from locals and respond to well-considered questions and this has been reflected in the well-informed submissions we have received,” Marisa said.

“We volunteered to exhibit the draft PSA documentation used to amend the planning schemes for the Whittlesea, Mitchell, Benalla, Strathbogie, Wangaratta and Wodonga local government areas because it was an additional opportunity to gather views from communities adjoining the Inland Rail.”

Common themes that came up across the sessions included:

  • Mitchell Shire: Understanding construction impacts including road closures, queries regarding proposed road grade, social impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • North-East: Considering different design options for sites in the North-East, understanding factors for accessibility and functionality in each design option.

While we welcome feedback at any time, the next approval process will involve Heritage Victoria seeking your views on our Heritage Permit applications for Wangaratta and Glenrowan. Visit the T2A Status page for more information.
