Riverina locals ready for rail industry
Eight community members in Wagga Wagga including seven First Nations participants have successfully upskilled in their next phase of workplace training, by completing a three day ‘Rail Industry Readiness’ course run by First Nations Registered Training Organisation Yakka Training and the Inland Rail Skills Academy.

Inland Rail has wrapped up its public drop-in sessions responding to the Preferred Infrastructure Report for the Albury to Illabo section of the project with a very well attended drop-in session in Wagga Wagga on Tuesday, with well over one hundred locals attending the session at the Wagga Wagga Showgrounds.

Over 60 local businesses, including 11 First Nations businesses in Albury, Wagga Wagga, and Forbes are becoming increasingly competitive when it comes to winning work on major projects in the region – including Inland Rail - having attended the second round of workshops within the ‘Pathway to Opportunities’ Supplier Capability Development Program, an initiative of the Inland Rail Skills Academy.

The Inland Rail project has won three major awards at the Excellence in Surveying and Spatial Innovation (EISSI) in Sydney, with our surveying contractors, Monteath & Powys, winning two awards for their work on the Inland Rail project and Casey Surveying and Design also taking out an award.
