Xplorer overnights in Narrabri
The Narrabri train station has received an upgrade with a turnback facility now in place for the Moree to Sydney Xplorer Service. The rail line between Penneys Road and Moree South was closed in early April 2021 to allow construction works to commence on that section of the rail line.

Since that time, a bus service has been running between Moree and Narrabri, and the Xplorer train has been terminating in Narrabri overnight.
The turnback facility in Narrabri allows the passenger train to be secured overnight off the main rail line. While in the turnback area, the train can be cleaned and prepared for service the following day, and security can effectively oversee the facility overnight. The facility provides a convenient connection to water, power and lighting, and pathways facilitate safe access for staff.
