About Inland Rail

Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project that will complete the backbone of Australia’s freight rail network. It will enhance supply chains by providing a transit time of 24 hours or less for freight trains between Melbourne and Brisbane. Inland Rail will connect regional Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland to markets more efficiently, drive substantial cost savings for producers and consumers, and deliver significant economic benefits. Inland Rail is the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia and one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the world.

About the opportunity

As an ICT Support Officer, you will be crucial part of the of the Inland Rail program, providing exceptional IT support across the Inland Rail program and to our onsite teams. You will play a pivotal role ensuring seamless communication, data management, and technology solutions across various project sites. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working in the field and is passionate about delivering ICT support. Travel will be 2 to 3 days a month.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide secure desktop and peripheral support for Inland Rail’s computer network.
  • Provide ICT support and assistance for Inland Rail users in relation to software and hardware problems, this will include local, telephone and remote support.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and perform all duties with the company’s core beliefs and objectives in mind always.
  • Create and maintain both existing and new IT and business process documentation to comply with the Inland Rail project standard. This include both business process models and instructional documentation.
  • Have a proactive approach to support requests and ticket management within ServiceNow.
  • Execute the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all current IT systems.
  • Onsite systems and server administration, performing proactive and reactive technical support and implementation of solutions.
  • Assist in development and implementation of all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Undertake minor repairs/upgrades of hardware such as workstations and printers; liaise with approved repairers; manage the effective repair of defective equipment.
  • Configure new hardware and software and reconfigure existing hardware and software to run effectively on the network.

About You

The successful incumbent will need to have technical proficiency in hardware, software, and network systems, as well as effective problem-solving skills and communication skills. Adaptability, customer service and teamwork are also key, along with self-motivation and the ability to work independently, have good time management and a willingness to learn are crucial for excelling in this role.

You will be able to demonstrate

  • Experience working in a large project environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in desktop and peripheral support, preferably in the Windows environment (Windows 10, Windows 11 and Microsoft 365).
  • Experience with fault finding, problem solving and rectification. Intermediate networking experience including the ability to diagnose faults.
  • Experience with managing Microsoft Exchange environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to support physical infrastructure including network and server hardware installations and well-organized patching.
  • The ability to proactively manage ticket queues and triage effectively.
  • Willingness to travel to other offices (intra- and inter-state) to support the business and perform independent work (however primary location of work will be Brisbane CBD).
  • Driver’s License Class C.
