Since our last update, we’ve spent time out and about in the communities along the alignment. We’re continuing to work with the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) to determine the conditions of approval for the North Star to NSW/Queensland Border project. And keep an eye out for some great opportunities and events in coming months to meet the team and learn more about Inland Rail.

Police and community members in the regional council area of Goondiwindi, which includes parts of Inland Rail’s QLD/NSW Border to Gowrie project, have joined forces to tackle crime in the area, thanks in part to support from Inland Rail.

Border to Gowrie project update June 2022

This month, the Border to Gowrie team got out and about at FarmFest in Kingsthorpe talking to the farming community from across the region. With record crowds attending this year’s event, the Inland Rail team were available to answer lots of question on the project. In the field, a program-wide koala genetics field study commenced in mid-June with ecologists in the QLD/ NSW Border to Gowrie project area looking for evidence of koala populations.

Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 April possession update

In April, the final stage of the Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 section kicked off with the temporary closure and possession, of the operating rail line between Narrabri and South Moree, for major construction until 31 October 2022.
