Miniature models delight at Albury’s annual train show
Train lovers united in Albury last week for the Murray Railway Modellers annual train show, which showcased spectacular model train layouts created by local and interstate enthusiasts.

Inland Rail held a successful stand at the event, with staff from the southern New South Wales engagement team on hand to share all the latest news about the Inland Rail Albury to Illabo project.
Over 1,000 visitors attended across the weekend to check out the trade stands and train models on display at the Mirambeena Community Centre, including the Inland Rail diorama – a scale model demonstrating works that will take place along the alignment.
The Murray Railway Modellers Inc. was born out of a train show in May 2008. The group aims to promote the engaging hobby of model railways, and bring the community together through organising social activities.
Andrew Garratt, Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Albury to Parkes, said:
‘The Inland Rail team is proud to be able to exhibit at such a fantastic local event, and connect with the border community and rail enthusiasts.
‘Our team received a positive response and plenty of keen interest in the Inland Rail project as a whole, with our ‘Guess the Weight’ competition of an old rail anchor proving to be a fantastic conversation starter.
‘Our centrepiece, a working diorama based on a generic New South Wales country town, was a hit with both visitors and exhibitors alike as a clear visualisation of the works involved in constructing Inland Rail’.
