Border to Gowrie update October 2022
Over the last month we’ve visited Inglewood, Millmerran, Brookstead and Biddeston talking with community members about the project as part of our information drop-in sessions. We even had furry friends from Inglewood Working Dogs, one of Inland Rail’s Community Sponsorships and Donations program recipients, drop by and say hi.

Over 40 local business representatives from the region attended the Workforce Development event in Toowoomba in early September. The event was an opportunity for businesses to hear about how to get their workforce ready for supply opportunities through Inland Rail contractors.
What’s happening in the field?
Hydrology consultation
To gather additional information for the project’s revised draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), this month we spoke with landholders about our revised flood model and potential changes to flood conditions in the project area.
Upcoming field investigations
Other field investigations in the coming months include quarry and borrow pit investigations, river depth and hydrology surveys, and groundwater monitoring.
Our design and construction partner for the Northern Civil Works program, BHQJV, are preparing for geotechnical investigations between Whetstone and Gowrie.
These environmental and technical investigations will help to validate and enhance the existing reference design for this section of Inland Rail.
When the investigation locations are determined, our team will contact impacted landowners directly to discuss the works and negotiate a land access agreement.

EIS status
The NSW/Queensland Border to Gowrie project remains in the approvals stage as we prepare additional information to support the project’s revised draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
The revised draft EIS will be subject to a period of public consultation following submission and acceptance by the Coordinator General (CG). Timing for additional consultation will be determined by the CG in due course.
