Property discussions and valuations

Delivering Inland Rail requires us to purchase land necessary for the safe construction and operation of each project. On the Narromine to Narrabri project, our team has met with affected landowners to discuss property matters.

Gatton Information Session

On the Narromine to Narrabri project, our team has met with landowners interested in commencing property discussions with Inland Rail on a voluntary basis, prior to commencement of the formal acquisition process. These discussions are completely voluntary, are on no lesser terms than the formal acquisition process and aim to provide landowners with a better understanding of the acquisition process and their rights and responsibilities under the Land Acquisition (Just Terms) Compensation Act 1991 (the Act).

Where agreed, landowners have also been given the opportunity to commence the valuation of their property with Inland Rail’s Independent Valuers. This will help landowners understand how the acquisition may affect their property.

We understand that these conversations can be difficult, and we appreciate everyone’s time and effort. We will continue to engage in an open and transparent manner. All property discussions have been held in accordance with the Act and will transition into the formal acquisition process upon consent from the NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads.

If you are an affected landowner, our teams will have been in touch. If you are a community member and have any questions about property acquisition and the approach we are taking, please feel free to give us a call on 1800 732 761 or email inlandrailnsw@artc.com.au.
