Final Workshop: Meet the Buyer– Registration of Interest

The ARTC Inland Rail Skills Academy since mid 2023 has been partnering with Deborah Wilson Consulting Services to facilitate a ‘Pathways to Opportunities’ capability building program for businesses along the Albury to Parkes section of Inland Rail in Southern New South Wales.

The program has helped regional businesses understand how to engage with buyers, to prepare compliant tender submissions, and to manage contracts for work on major projects and within regional supply chains.

Over the 4 workshops held to date and one-on-one mentoring, local businesses have benefited from learning:

  • what major project buyers want from suppliers
  • how to improve their skills and capabilities to be a competitive supplier
  • how to be compliant with buyer requirements
  • how to be prepared for procurement processes and manage contracts
  • how to profile strongly with local, regional and project buyers.

The workshops have also included presentations from and networking with major buyers in the region, including Albury to Parkes’ prime contractor Martinus Rail, local government, and project proponents within various industries such as mining, recycling, energy and more.

The final workshop (of the 5-part series) is a half day ‘meet the buyer’ focused workshop that will give suppliers the opportunity to gain a better understanding of buyer expectations, identify potential opportunities available and network directly with regional major project buyers. Early bookings are essential as places are limited.

For those local businesses that have been participating in the program, this will be a great opportunity to apply the knowledge gained from the program, presenting to buyers as informed suppliers – ones that understand the major project environment and have capabilities the buyers will want to know about. The small group discussions will be a rare opportunity to discuss questions with buyers, to gain a better understanding of buyers’ needs and to make them aware of the strong capabilities presented by local businesses that are keen to work with them.

Businesses who have registered interest will be contacted by ARTC Inland Rail and informed of the outcome of their registration and next steps.
