Local school and kindy benefit from ARTC Inland Rail support

North Star Public School and Goondiwindi Kindergarten have put funding from our Community Sponsorships and Donations program towards school amenity upgrades.

Goondiwindi Kindergarten

Goondiwindi Kindergarten’s playground is now safer and softer for little knees now that a soft fall play area has been installed under the swings and new hopscotch area.

The soft fall play area aligns with the kindergarten’s play-based program that is supporting nearly 50 local children as they progress their learning journeys.

North Star Public School yarning circle brings students together

In the shade of a large tree in the playground of North Star Public School, a circle of 12 limestone blocks now creates a welcome space for students to talk, share stories or sit quietly.

The new yarning circle, made possible through a donation from our Community Sponsorships and Donations Program, was completed by local businesses including ATJ’s Earthworks, Hunt’s Bobcat Hire and Doolin Agriculture.

Devised by the North Star Public School P&C, the yarning circle offers an environment to learn from a group, build respectful relationships, and pass on cultural knowledge.

The space brings students from kindy through to Year 7 together and is used by all classes for lessons, exploration, and play.

North Star Public School P&C’s Emily Uebergang said the yarning circle provides an alternative learning space for students to engage with the environment and natural surroundings.

“We are so thankful to Inland Rail and all the local suppliers who helped transform this area of North Star Public School into a beautiful yarning circle. The students, teachers and community are all benefitting from this amazing project,” said Mrs Uebergang.

The ARTC Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program offers funding between $1000–$4000 for individuals and organisations in regional areas along the Inland Rail.

Applications for the current round of funding close on January 31, 2023.

We encourage you to check your funding eligibility and apply. Please include as much information as you can to tell the story of what you want to achieve and how it will benefit your community.
